Dottie, I stopped by your house this last Memorial Day hoping to see you and Kate but you were not at home. It has been a long time but I remember the days when I would visit my Grandmother, Maggie Goodpaster. I can see you coming through the tobacco patch to get me and take me to your house. Then later when you moved to the house by your Grandmother, spending the night and going to church with you. Kate always treated me so special and her heart was as big as a house. I so remember her putting cream on my oatmeal and taking the time to redo it just to please me. Good memories. I am so sorry to hear of her passing but I know she had great faith and is in a better place. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Message from Betty Barber Morford - November 17, 2014 at 07:51 PM

Kate was a wonderful lady. Both she and Jewell were such good friends to my aunt and uncle, Carl and Jewell Barber when they were living. I last saw her when I visited the Senior Center in Owingsville a few years ago. We talked about old times and old friends and pleasant memories of get togethers at Slate Valley Church. My prayers are with Dottie, Dorothy and Alma Jean and their families. May God bless and comfort them during this sad time.

Dottie- My deepest sympathy to you and the family. I cherish the memories of Katie and the great times spent with her when I was living in the valley. Her good food, visits, laughing etc. I loved her so much. She will be sadly missed. I am a "Snowbird" in Florida for the winter, so I will not be able to make the funeral. My love, thoughts, and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May God grant you peace and comfort today and each new day ahead. Love you Dottie. God Bless.

Message from Lowell C. Rice - November 16, 2014 at 09:01 AM

My thoughts and prayers and those of the Owingsville First Church of God are with the Manley and Jackson Families through the time of Kate's passing. It was always a delight to stop by her room at Ridgeway and visit with her and with her roommate, Ada. I will remember here smile, her faith and her love for her family. And, I will remember her attendance at the last nursing home service that I conducted at Ridgeway. May the comfort and peace of Christ be real in your lives and you walk through the valley of grief and may the weeping that endures for this time give way to morning's joy.

Ms Kate use to live up a dirt road from us. She was always so kind to us. When she smiled it warmed your heart. She always gave you a compliment. I remember at a very very young age she let me help her hull peas and she told me how good I was in doing it, making me feel so good about myself. She had so much love in her heart for everyone. Prayers for the family
