Pauline, by the time you read this post, Don's funeral will be over. But, I just want to thank you and Don for being such a wonderful part of my life for so many years. You have been faithful to God, faithful to the church and faithful in your support of my pastoral ministry. It's hard to talk about Don without talking about you as well because to me you and Don were like peaches and cream. You just went together. In remembering Don, I will always think of the good qualities of his life; his love for family, his love for community, his love for the church, his friendliness and his faithfulness. He was a treasure to all of us who knew him, he was so very much loved and he will be so greatly missed. And, in the years to come, you, the girls, the grandchildren and the great grandchildren can always find comfort in knowing that Don deeply and dearly loved every one of you. Finally, just know that my life has been tremendously blessed because of you and Don and because of the Hale and Karrick Families.

I wish I got to tell him I remember this, but I thought about the times he and Pauline would pick me up and take me home with them soon after they were married. We would drive down some road to go to their trailer and there was a creek beside the road. He would tell me to cover my face and hold my breath because we were going to drive through that creek and it was going over our heads. I was so scared but excited too. He thought that was so funny and he would do it another time and i believed him again. A very special man and uncle...we were truly blessed to have him in our family!
