Mrs. Wilma Carpenter Gillen, age 73 of Lexington formally of Owingsville passed away at the University Of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. She was born in Mount Sterling on May 25, 1947 to the late Lester Timothy Carpenter and Mattie Goodpaster Carpenter. Wilma was a sweet lady that loved her family. She loved to talk on the phone, bird watch and go to yard sales. She enjoyed family reunions and spending time with friends. She was known to be outspoken and could have you laughing in a minute. She had a fun personality and a kind heart. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Gillen (Martie) and James Gillen; six grandchildren, Mia Gillen, Maxwell Gillen, Sabrina Marshall, Halyn Gillen, Eryn Gillen and Justin Gillen; four great grandchildren, Jesse Robles, Axton Kitchen, Brantley Marshall and Kyleigh Luttrell.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Gillen; one son, Timothy "Bo" Gillen; two brothers, Timothy Carpenter and Gudgell Carpenter.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 21 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Copher officiating. Burial will follow in the Carpenter Cemetery.
