Virgie Walters, age 90 of Mount Sterling, made heaven her home on January 17 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 18, 1932 to the late Ed Hiler and Sylvia Clem Hiler. Virgie was a Christian woman that loved the Lord and attending the Howards Mill 1st Church of God for many years, She served on the board and helped in any way she could. Hard working, loving and smart are just a few words to describe her. She knew what a day of hard work was all about, wether it be farming, gardening or cutting tobacco. Virgie loved it all. She was very knowledgeable about many things. Repairing her own tractors, sewing, quilting and raising one of the best gardens around were some of her specialties. Virgie was a loving mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved to be surrounded by them all. Her kind loving heart and beautiful smile will be missed so much by those she leaves behind. May they carry their memories with them each day to help them through.
She is survived by one son, Lanny Walters and his wife, Linda; seven daughters, Betty Bartley, Pam Setters (Nelson Davis),Shirley Walker and her husband, Jim, Dottie Orme and her husband, Charlie, Denise Hartgrove and her husband, Darvin, Veronica Williams and her husband, Chris, Glenna Kirby and her husband, John; three brothers, Russell Hiler and his wife, Dee, Ted Hiler and his wife, Mary, Forest Hiler and his wife, Sharon; five sisters, Florence Cole, Gracie Rankin and her husband, Jimmy, Glenna Hawkins and her husband, Clayton, Norean Hatton and Sherelene Hiler; sixteen grandchildren, Chad Havens, Lanny Ray Walters, Rodney Setters, Bynam Lee Brooks, John Orme, Aaron Williams, Hayden Staton, Kim DIce, Cindy Walker, Stephanie McCarty, Samantha Ballard, Ladonna Spence, Kristen Williams, Sara Watkins, Izzy Kirby and Jenny Manconi; 38 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Bynam Walters, one son, Frank Walters; two brothers, Mort Hiler and Gene Hiler; three grandchildren, Shawn Havens, Connie Setters and Natalie Calvert.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20 from 10:a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow in the chapel with Pastor David Campbell and Pastor Chris Williams officiating. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery in Mount Sterling.
