Thelma Alice Pergrem Burgess, a kind hearted and creative soul, passed away on April 5 at the age of 68. She was born on December 9, 1957 in Bath County, Kentucky to the late Joshua Pergrem and Ivela Little Pergrem.
Thelma was a member of the Bath County High School Class of 1975 and went on to dedicate several years of her life working as a certified phlebotomist, where she cared for others with compassion and skill. She also enjoyed her time selling Avon, connecting with others and sharing her friendly spirit.
A woman of strong faith, Thelma loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Northside Church of God and Pentecostal Fellowship. Her faith guided her life and was evident in the love and kindness she showed to everyone she met.
She had a creative heart and found joy in crocheting and knitting, often sharing her handmade creations with those she loved. She was known for her warm, welcoming personality – she never met a stranger and truly loved to socialize. Her kindness, gentle spirit and love for others made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Thelma had a deep love for her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She also had a special place in her heart for animals. She will be remembered for her loving nature, her strong faith and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Chrystal Spence; one brother, Russell Pergrem; one aunt, Ruby Presley; two uncles, Josh Little and Arl Little; several cousins
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Spence.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm in the chapel at Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in Longview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Tony Little, John Townsend, Rex Little, Jared Little, Bill Presley and Steve Vice.
Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Little, Arl Little, Jodie Lawson, Sheila Anderson, Ann Richmond, Denny Munday and Robin Munday.
