Mr. Terry Hughes, age 73, of Owingsville, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021. He was born in Bath County on June 10, 1948 to the late Julian Hughes and Vada Goodpaster. Terry worked for Southern States, Miller Gas Company and Ferrell Gas Company, which he retired from. After retiring, he worked as a Bath County Deputy Jailer and for the Bath County Medical Transport. He served in the United States Army for 2 years, where he was stationed in Turkey and guarded the nuclear weapons. Terry was an avid UK basketball fan and loved Bath County Football. He was a middle and high school football coach and a little league coach. He loved to fry fish for church and political events and play poker with friends. He was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend that will be missed dearly by those that knew and loved him.
Terry is survived by two children, Steven Wayne Hughes and Desarae Michelle Hughes along with their mother, Donna Hughes; two sisters, Kathy Rogers and her husband, Rick; Janet Butler and her husband, Jim; two grandchildren, Margaret Elizabeth Ann Hughes and Isabella Marie Ann Hughes;
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Hughes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 15 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery in Bethel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to Bath County Softball team or the Bath County Jr Pro Football.
