Sarah Louise Helton, 70, passed away Monday at UK hospital surrounded by her family on her birthday. She was born in Morehead, Ky on April 28, 1955 to the late Virgil “Cub” Thompson and Ora Smith Thompson.
She was a Bath County Dispatcher for well over 20 years and she loved her work and her co-workers. Their love for her has been shown in their awe inspiring actions and tributes since her passing. They’ve made her proud! She has been described as a social butterfly with a great big heart and a side of salty as she was strongly convicted in her beliefs. When she wasn’t at work keeping our first responders in line, she loved her farm life spending as much time as she could in her garden and with her precious furbabies. She was the exemplary wife and mother and her loss is felt deeply by her loving family who include…her husband Greg Helton of nearly 50 years; one son Greg, Jr. (Ashley) Helton of Owingsville; two daughters Christie (Jeffrey) Collins and Alisha (Allen) Lucas all of Owingsville; one sister Jean Smith of Farmers, Ky; 5 grandchildren Jeffrey Brian “Turtle” Collins, Madison Taylor Setters, Robert Blake Adams, Brooklyn Elizabeth Lucas, and Wyatt Allen Lucas; a special friend Janice “Aggie” Taylor and her furbabies Elmo, Bill, Suzie, Pookie, and Buster.
She will be joining her sister Josephine McCarty and her grandson Matthew Dylan Penick in paradise.
Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Reverend Steve Meadows. A private family burial will be held at a later time in the Helton Cemetery.
