Richard Alan Boyd (Knuck), as he was called by all who loved him, gained his wings on May 30, 2024.
Richard was born May 19, 1957 to Charles and Margaret Boyd, both of whom preceded him in death.
Richard was also husband to Barbara Boyd for 8 years, who preceded him in death as well. She was the love of his life. They just enjoyed being with each other.
He was also a longtime companion to Clarissa Dembo and was heavily involved in the rearing of her children, whom he lovingly referred to as "his family" prior to returning to Kentucky.
Richard was a quiet man with a generous, big heart and a gentle spirit with a mischevious side as a child. He was born with an old soul and was fiercely protective of his sisters. watching basketball, football and Guy Fieri's cooking shows was his favorite times as he became more and more house bound.
During Richard's lifetime, he served in the United States Army as a medic. After leaving the military, he made his home in San Antonio, Texas where he resided for 20+ years. Richard worked as a home health companion and then later became the "best forklift driver ever!" At least, that was he perception.
Born the 3rd child of 8 children, Richard leaves to cherish his memory 4 brothers and 3 sisters; Joey, Michelle and Jimmy of Sharpsburg, KY; Pamela and Bessie of Lexington, KY; Tony (Anita) of Maysville, KY; Charles (Betty) of Mt. Sterling, KY and Lillian (Damian) Gerton of Lexington, KY. A host of nieces and nephews, whom he loved and always had a "bit of wisdom" to share with them. Also aunts, Emma (Nellie), Virginia (Tootie) and Mary Alice; Uncles, George and Monroe(Fuzz). He also had a special friend and caretaker, David Wilson.
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Greater First Baptist Church in Sharpsburg.
