Raymond "Gordie" Jones, age 77, passed away on November 24 at his residence in Richmond, Kentucky. He was born on July 27, 1947 in Mount Sterling, Kentucky to the late Carl Edgar Jones and Margaret Hart Jones. Gordie served in the United States Army for two years. He was very proud to be a veteran and to have served his country. Gordie was a godly man that had a huge influence on people, helping make their lives better. When able, he loved to attend Cornerstone Baptist Church. Gordie loved to play golf and would often teach classes. He loved to see others learn the game. Spending time with family was a favorite for him. His children describe him as being the best father and stepfather ever. Gordie had a way with people, making them smile and just feel better about themselves. He will be dearly missed by all those he leaves behind. They will forever cherish the memories.
He is survived by his wife, Joan white Jones; two sons, Christopher Michael Jones and Jody Ryan Jones; one stepson, Calen Spencer; one brother, Emery Jones; one sister, Carol Anderson; a special sister in law, Rita Forbush.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Jones.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 29 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Dan White officiating. Burial will follow in the Hart Cemetery with full military rites.
Pallbearers will be Emery Jones, Calen Spencer, Chris Jones, Brian Woodard, Marty Fugate, and Andrew White.
