Ramona Lynn Lawson, age 62 of Owingsville, passed away at her residence on March 28. She was born on January 10, 1964 in Mount Sterling, Kentucky to the late Jimmy T. Reffitt and Diana McFarland Reffitt. She leaves behind a legacy of love, music and strong spirit that will be truly missed.
Ramona had a deep passion for music and enjoyed her time spent with her bluegrass gospel band, River’s Edge. Her love for gospel music was a true reflection of her faith and the joy she carried in her heart. She was a member of the Hedrick’s Church and Youngs Valley Church, where her presence and voice touched many. Ramona loved being a minster's wife and caring for her church family.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures – watching the cows in the field next to her home, caring for them, mowing her yard and decorating her home for every season. She loved for everything to be matching and beautiful. Ramona also had a love for traveling and embraced every opportunity to see new places. She also loved to cook for her family.
A hardworking and determined woman, Ramona drove an 18 wheeler for many years, a job she truly enjoyed. She later worked with the Kentucky State Police Department of Transportation, a role she was incredibly proud of and dedicated herself to.
Ramona was known for her kind and loving heart, her strong will, and her natural leadership. She liked things done her way and had a way of bringing order and care into everything she touched. Above all, she will be remembered for her warmth, strength and the love she shared so freely with others.
Her memory will live on in the music she loved, the lives she touched and the countless moments shared with those who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Lawson; one stepdaughter, Sarah Lawson; four aunts, Sharon Reffitt (Steve), Brenda Curtis, Nancy Wills and Peggy Jackson; two sisters in law, Connie Barker (Randy) and Debbie Oakley (David); a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy T. and Diana Reffitt.
