Maxine Bussell, age 74, passed away at her daughter's home on September 28. She had lived in Owingsville for many years before she went to live with her daughter in Chaplain, Kentucky. Born on June 5, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Robert Purvis and Mary Emma Davis Purvis.
Maxine was a very simple and humble lady. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Playing games and working crossword puzzles were some of her favorite things to do. She also enjoyed working in her flowers. Maxine was a wonderful mother and grandmother with a big heart. She loved to help others and was always there when she was needed. Maxine was kind, caring and honest. She will be missed deeply by her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Cathy James and her husband, Todd; one son, Bobby Bussell Jr. and his wife, Von; two brothers, Robert Purvis; Eddie Purvis and his wife, Laura; three sisters, Mary Bostic, Jackie Bussell, Nola Campbell and her husband, Elmo; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Moore, Tyler Hatton, Ashley Copher, Taylor Hatton, Emma James, Cole James and Makenna James; seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Bussell Sr.; three brothers, Donnie Purvis, Charles Purvis and Robin Purvis; two sisters, Frances McKinnley and Susie Sexton.
Active pallbearers will be Bobby Bussell Jr., Cole James, Todd James, Taylor Hatton, Tyler Hatton, and Brandon Copher.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Purvis and Robert Purvis.
Visitation will be Monday, October 2 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery.
