Matthew Penick Obituary

Matthew Dylan Penick, age 20, passed away on February 20, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Hospital. He was born on October 2, 1999 to David Penick and Alisha Helton Lucas. Dylan was a graduate of Montgomery County High School. He joined the army right after graduating, where he was an Automatic Rifleman assigned to 2nd Platoon, 3rd Squad Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 149th. Dylan loved the military and everything about it. He cherished every experience that he had and loved his military family. He was a kind hearted, stubborn young man that loved to help others. He would do anything for someone in need. Family was so important to him. He loved to joke around and was a master at debating. Dylan loved music, spending time with friends and his family. Even though his life here on earth was so short, he will live on. He loved to help others so much that he wanted to be an organ donor. His parents honored this wish and there were seven recipients of his organs. Dylan was a very loved young man and will be greatly missed by so many. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of those that loved him.

He is survived by his father, David Penick; his mother, Alisha (Allen) Lucas; One stepbrother, Wyatt Lucas; One stepsister, Brooklyn Lucas; Paternal grandparents, Phyllis Phipps, Edward (Sue) Penick; Maternal grandparents, Greg Helton, Sarah Helton, Beverly (Shawn) Finnigan and Donnie (Tina) Lucas; Several aunts and uncles, Christy (Jeff) Collins, Greg (Ashley) Helton, Amber Netherly, Eddie (Samantha) Lucas, Dwayne Davis; Special friends, Jessica Douglas and Kiser Larrison; A host of friends and family.
