Mason "Shorty" Lee, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 24. He was born on March 13, 1934 in Montgomery County to the late Marion Henry Lee and Goldie Johnson Lee. Mason was a member of the Community Church in Sharpsburg for many years. He served in the Army from 1954 until 1956 and was proud to support his country. He was awarded the Occupational Medal(Germany), Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Mason was employed as a truck driver for Walker Construction for over 40 years. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his job. Mason loved his dogs and had one that would always accompany him while he hauled water. When he wasn't working, he would go fishing, hunting and just be outdoors. Mason was a humble man that enjoyed living a simple life and was always thankful for his family and what they had. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by one son, Larry Lee and his wife, Debbie; one daughter, Vickie Lee and her husband, John; one brother, Marion Lee Jr. of Florida; one sister, Florine Lee Ovington; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Vice Lee and one son, Gary Mason Lee.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 1:00 p.m. in the Longview Cemetery. Pastor James Allen will be officiating. Military honors will be observed.
