Mary Lois Heflin Story, age 90 of Hillsboro, passed away on Friday November 28, 2025.
She was born on April 17, 1935 in Fleming County, Kentucky and was a daughter of the late Emmett and Beaulah Emmons Heflin. Her husband of 70 years, Kirby Scott Story, also preceded her in death on August 10, 2024.
All of her siblings preceded her in death. They are: Ollie Thomas, Theodore, Dutch, Thelma, Betty, Bob, Gin, Les, Frank and Andy.
Mrs. Story is survived by one son, Michael (Janice) Story of Hillsboro, KY and one daughter, Michele (Don) Crady of Mt. Pulaski, IL; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several extended family and friends also survive.
Mary was a member of Grange City Christian Church. She and her late husband faithfully attended services until their health declined.
Mary was a homemaker who also helped with some of the work on the family farm, as well as doing yard work. She was an excellent cook and her meals were enjoyed by all her family and friends. She also took great care of Kirby and helped him maintain his health.
As almost everyone knew, Mary (and Kirby) enjoyed having a cat. She had many special cats over the years and could tell you about all of them. Mary was plain spoken, sometimes sassy and sometimes very sweet, yet never failed to tell her family she loved them. Mary will be missed by her family and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro, KY with Reverend Randy Hawkins officiating.
