Mary E. Lucas, age 94, of Owingsville, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Bath County on August 25, 1927 to the late Jacob Warner Dawson and Rosalee Jackson Dawson. She was a lifelong resident of the county where she worked a dairy farm with her late husband, Edward Frank Lucas. Mary was a homemaker that loved her family and enjoyed caring for them. She loved to care for her grandchildren and spoil them often. Mary was a very talented painter and enjoyed spending any free time painting beautiful portraits. She was a member of the Tunnell Hill First Church of God. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly by all that loved her.
She is survived by one son, Daniel Lucas and his wife, Ellie of Owingsville; one daughter in law, Karen Lucas of Mt. Sterling; four grandchildren, Matthew Lucas of Owingsville; Kendall Lucas of Florida; Jonathan Lucas and Clay Lucas, both of Mt. Sterling, several nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Frank Lucas, one son, Robert Frank Lucas; one daughter, Shirley Ann Lucas; two sisters, Eliza Louise Dawson and Lorenna Shrout.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Reverend Steve Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Keith Lucas, Larry Reynolds, Mike Lucas, John Kirby, Bill Dragoo and Ray Kirby.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Lucas and Randy Burton.
