Loretta Mers Obituary

Loretta Pearl Page Mers, age 82 of Sharpsburg, passed away on October 19 at her residence. She was born on August 19, 1940 in Bath County, Kentucky to the late Audry Hinton Page and Anna Katherine Lyons. Loretta was a member of the Fellowship Tabernacle Church and also the Tunnel Hill Church of God. Loretta was a former Senior Citizen Site Director.  She enjoyed collecting rocks and arrowheads. Loretta also liked to write poems, songs and enjoyed drawing. She taught herself to play the piano and loved to sign in church. Family was the most important to her. She loved to spend every moment she could with them. Loretta will be deeply missed by all that she leaves behind. 

She is survived by her husband, Mike Mers; one son, James Jones Jr. and his wife Donna; two daughters, Anita Pergrem and her husband Noel, Paula Copher and her husband, Mark; two brothers, Billy Page and Audry Page Jr.; fourteen grandchildren, David Martin, Anna Green, Shell Gast, Steven Jones, Charles Martin, Tiffany Bowling, William Jones, Derrick Penwheel, James Jones, Madison Jones, Mark Copher, Nova Jones, Amber Connors, and Nikki Moore; twenty one great grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler, Chandler, Haiden, Anastasia, Gavin, Abagayle, Gabriel, Jacob, Skylar, Matthew, Samuel, Aryanna, Molly, Cali, Jade, Atli, Audrey, Gable, Audie, Azalea, Axel and Ajourney; one great great grandson, Brylan Jonah Bentley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Kay Simpkins and one sister, Bonnie Hall.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 23 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Monday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Baber officiating. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin Martin, David Martin, Steven Jones, James Jones, James Jones Jr.. and Derrick Penwheel. 

Honorary pallbearers are Gavin Fields, Gabriel Jones and Jacob Jones.
