Lawrence Richards, 88, of Owingsville passed away Tuesday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 11, 1936 to the late John Adair Richards, Sr. and the late Madge Atchison Richards.

He was a lifelong resident of Owingsville where he was a member of the Owingsville Christian Church. He was Veteran of the Air Force and a member of Free Masons for over 60 years. He served as master of Lodge 55 for 3 years and was a member of East Central Past Master’s Society.

Lawrence taught school in Frenchburg for a few years before becoming employed by the State government. During his almost 30 years of employment, Lawrence helped many people obtain gainful employment before retiring.

He loved music and danced every chance he got. He was also a huge UK basketball fan and was excited about the Cats this year. Lawrence was able to attend many SEC tournaments and Final Four games, which he enjoyed so much.

He leaves to cherish his memory; one sister Susan Richards Hicks of Owingsville; a sister-in-law Karen Richards; one special God-daughter Joannah Richards; a special friend Roseanna Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, John Adair Richards, Jr., Jeff Richards, and Morgan Richards; one sister Betty Ruth Rawlings; and a special nephew Jack Richards.
