Kirby Scott Story, age 88, of Hillsboro, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
He was born on June 26, 1936 in Grange City, Kentucky and was a son of the late Kelly Story and Lillian Ruth Walton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Owens and one brother in law, Bill Owens.
Mr. Story is survived by his wife, Mary Heflin Story; one son, Michael Scott Story and his wife, Janice; one daughter, Michele Crady and her husband, Don; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a host of extended family and friends.
Kirby was an elder for Grange City Christian Church where he had attended all of his life. He was a director for Fleming County Water District for 43 years before recently retiring.
Kirby was a cattle farmer, working dairy and beef cattle for many years as well as raising tobacco. He loved everything about farm life. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and was an avid UK fan. Kirby was always happy to talk and visit with his neighbors and church family and loved a good joke. He enjoyed life and being with family and friends. Kirby will be missed greatly by all that knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hillsboro Cemetery with Dr. David Barnett officiating.
Active pallbearers will be John Foudary, Hugh Byron, Kevin Cornett, Randy Hawkins, Jamie Hawkins and Ethan Hawkins.
Honorary pallbearer will be David Jent.
