Joe York, age 58 of Owingsville, passed away on Tuesday, December 14 at UK Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 15, 1963 to Edwin Ray York and Dorothy Nell Clark. Joe was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the Owingsville Christian Church and attended the Owingsville First Church of God. Joe was a farmer all his life and loved it. He was well known and respected by others throughout the community. Joe earned the award for Young Farmer of the Year and also Young Farming Family of the Year in 2001. He loved his family and spending time with them. He also enjoyed teasing others and making them laugh. Joe was the most honest, dependable and hardworking man you will ever meet. He was always willing to help others at any cost. His smile and good heart will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Tammy Wise York; one son, Joseph Ray (JR) York: his mother, Dorothy Clark York; two sisters, Kimberly Bromagen and her husband, Patrick and Karen Smith; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Ray York; one brother, Jeffery Alan York; paternal grandparents, Henry and Edith York; maternal grandparents, Tom and Elizabeth Clark; one brother in law, Andy Smith.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 18 from 12 :00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Owingsville First Church of God.
Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow at the Shrout Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Dwayne Purvis, Mike Ginter, Gary Hamilton, Jimbo Craig, Ronnie Butcher and James King.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Josh Butcher, Rogie Coyle and Kevin Jamison.
