Jimmy Goodpaster Obituary

Jimmy Dale Goodpaster, age 71, passed away at his residence on Monday, July 11, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Montgomery County on January 11, 1951 to the late Claude L Goodpaster and Rhoda Withrow Goodpaster. Jimmy Dale worked as a Tool and Die Journeyman. He also served in the National Guards for over 20 years, retiring as a Major. He loved and respected his country and was proud of his service. Jimmy Dale was faithful to his church family and to the Bath County High School Class of 1969. He enjoyed planning the reunions so much. Family was very important to him. He was dedicated to his parents and the care they received. After his father passed, he began taking care of the Polksville Cemetery for many years. He worked very hard at this and was proud to do it. For several years, he would play Santa Clause for the children. This was only one of many things he would do to ensure the children had a good time and were happy. He could always be found playing with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved all the children and they loved him. His grandchildren brought him so much joy and he was so proud of all of them. Jimmy Dale was an avid UK fan. He enjoyed all sports but basketball was his favorite. He was a loving husband, father, brother and papaw. His family and friends say that he never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Jimmy Dale's kind, loving heart and fun loving personality will be so dearly missed by those he leaves behind. They will forever cherish the memories they have and find peace in knowing that Jimmy Dale is in heaven waiting for them.
