Ellington, Freda Jane Cook passed away Sunday April 5, 2020 at her home in the community of Bethel in Bath County, Kentucky. Jane Cook Ellington was the daughter of the late Isaac Errett and Margaret Ellen Collins Cook of Georgetown, KY. Jane is survived by her husband of 50 years, William David Ellington of Sharpsburg, Kentucky; son, Derek Thomas Ellington (wife, Rebecca) and three granddaughters, Clara, Laura and Taylor Ellington of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Other family includes a sister, Patsy Cook Wilson (Jim) of Georgetown, KY; sister-in-law, Denise Cook (wife of John T. Cook, brother, deceased) of Birmingham, AL; aunt, Nancy Collins Anderson of Georgetown, KY; sister-in-law, Mary Ellington Bach (Mike); nephew, Steven Bach (Richelle) of Mt. Sterling; cousins, Thomas Anderson (Rhoda) of Pikeville, KY and Mary Anderson Tanke (Paul), Laurel Tanke & Heather Tanke, all of Winter Haven, Florida and also numerous friends.
Jane was lovingly cared for by Sharon Hegyi. She was a graduate of Morehead State University with a degree in Home Economics and the University of Kentucky with a master degree in Family Consumer Science. Jane completed doctoral work at UK. Jane was an associate professor at Morehead State University for over twenty years. She was the treasurer and active member of the Bethel Christian Church; was a member of Bethel Homemakers and actively involved in the Bath Co./ Owingsville community. She was the women's chair of Bath County Farm Bureau. She was a board member of the Christian Social Services. Jane adored her granddaughters, farm life and frequently wrote uplifting cards/noted to those she was thinking about.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private services will be held. The family will announce a date for a celebration of life at a later time.
Reverend Richard Anderson will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Longview Cemetery.
