Harry Deever Patrick, 73, passed away after a long illness on Friday evening. He was born in West Liberty on May 13, 1945 to the late Salena Conley. He was a graduate of Kenesaw State University and worked for the Lexington Herald Leader from 1965-1973, the Atlanta Journal from 1973-1977 and was an Editor for IBM until 1991. He moved to Bath County in 1997 and went to work for the Bath County News Outlook from 1999-2009. While he was a very gifted journalist, animals were his grand passion. He loved and cared for many animals and was an avid rescuer until his health no longer permitted his activism. A more detailed obituary will follow at a later time written by Harry himself.
He is survived by one sister Jo Oney of Caney, Ky; and two special friends Cyndy Parker of Dawsonville, Georgia and Angel Johnson of Salt Lick.
He was preceded in death by his mother Salena Conley; 1 brother Sonny Conley; 2 sisters Betty Kelly Pergrem and Marie Thomas and a sister and two brothers who passed away in infancy.
Private services will be held for close friends and family at a later time.
