George Purvis, age 77 of Owingsville, passed away at his residence on November 5, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 28, 1946 in Bath County to the late Granville Purvis and Jane Cooper Purvis. George was a member of the Owingsville First Church of God. He was a janitor for Bath County Schools for many years before retiring. George loved working on his farm and being outdoors. He loved his family and spending time with them. George loved to visit and share stories about the old times. Being a papaw was so special to him. He enjoyed spoiling all of his grandchildren. A loving husband, a wonderful father and a great papaw are just some of the things he was. George was a kind, humble, simple man that will be missed by all that he leaves behind. May his family always cherish the memories they have with him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Bussell Purvis; one son, Dwayne Purvis and his wife, Jodi; one daughter, Pam Purvis; two sisters, Tammy Terrell and her husband, Charlie; Barbara Emmons; four grandchildren, Justin, Brady, Reagan and Rae-Leigh Purvis.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Owingsville First Church of God.
