George McCarty, age 80 of Owingsville, passed away on January 31 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 13, 1945 to the late Chester McCarty and Clara Mae Kincaid. George was a member of the Preston First Church of God. He was a caretaker for several cemeteries in the county for years. George retired from the Square D Company after many dedicated years of work. Mowing his yard, going hunting, fishing and spending time with family were some of his favorite things to do. George loved to travel to the beach and to the Great Smokey Mountains with his family. Throughout the years, he adopted many children and grandchildren into their home. The more people that would attend Sunday dinner or holidays, the more he loved it. George was a simple man with a kind heart and always made everyone feel loved and welcome. He was a hard worker, loved God and his family. George will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Anna Crump McCarty; one son, Randall McCarty and his wife, Sonja; three daughters, Donna Fox and her husband, Danny; Lori Hamilton and her husband, Paul; Tonya Hamilton and her husband, Scott; one sister, Joyce Tipton and her husband, Mike; eight grandchildren, Greg Fox, Selena Fox (Billy), Rebecca Hamilton (Adam), Eugene Hamilton (Calli), Hunter McCarty (Jordan), Kassandra Hamilton, Dillon Hamilton (Rinda) and Zane McCarty; seven great grandchildren, Christopher Armitage, Virginia Armitage, Braydon Fox, Brody Fox, Brogun Fox, Meeyah Collins and Ottalie Hamilton: several nieces, nephews, brothers in law and sisters in law.
