Gary Staton Obituary

Gary Lee Staton, age 72, passed away at his home on April 9, after battling cancer for six years. He was born on November 3, 1951 to Frances Helen Coyle Staton and the late Henry Staton. Gary was a hardworking, simple man who enjoyed the little things in life. He loved watching westerns but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He retired from the Owingsville Housing Authority after 25 years. Gary also worked for Hobart Manufacturing for 19 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend that will be missed by so many. May they always cherish the memories they have. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Helen Staton; his daughter, Jennifer Lambert; his son, Todd Staton (Tiff Vanlandingham); his mother, Frances Helen Staton; five grandchildren, Kris (Tori) Wright, Zac (Ashley) Wright, Danielle (Tyler) Lewis, Oaklyn Staton and Allison (Nate) Cooper; eleven great grandchildren, Raylee Wright, Penelope Wright, Kinsley Wright, Kristen Wright, Taylon Wright, Ryleigh Powers, Kaysen Swango, Brynlee Cooper, Baylee Cooper, Charlee Cooper and Harlee Cooper; two sisters, Sue (Ronnie) Beadle and Pam (Doug) Toy; two brothers, Tucker (Lisa) Staton and Gordie Staton; four brothers in law, Larry (Cleo) Gray, Billy Jr. (Teeny) Gray, Rick Gray and Jim Gray; a host of family and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother and father in law, Nellie and Bill Gray. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Staton Family Cemetery, located on the family farm. 

Active pallbearers will be Kristofer Wright, Zac Wright, Tucker Staton, Billy Gray Jr., Harold Purvis, Mike Jamison, Rogie Coyle and Tyler Lewis. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Gray, Jim Gray, Larry Gray, Gordie Staton, Ronnie Beadle, Lance Davis, Michael Tuttle, Roger Lee Manley, Waynie Everman, and Nate Cooper.
