Gary Lewis Gudgell, age 76 of Owingsville, passed away on May 20 at his residence. He was born on May 8, 1948 in Mount Sterling, Kentucky to the late William A. Gudgell and Ella Hughes Everman. Gary was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the United States Postal Service after working for 32 years. Gary loved to go hunting and being outdoors. He was a devoted member of the Slate Valley Christian Church and loved his church family. He will be missed by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by two daughters, Tina Smith and her husband, Brian; Samantha Prater and her husband, Tommy; one brother, Ronnie Gudgell and his wife, Patsy; three grandchildren, Ella Mitchell, Tyler Huffman and Sydney Huffman (Zach); four great grandchildren, Trevor Smith, Dottie Foley, Zaydee Krueger and Nyle Krueger; three nieces, Angie Lockhart, Amy Lewis and Lisa Stewart; two special cousins, John Everman and Nancye Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home with Pastor Gregg Whitt officiating. Military rites will be performed following the service in the Owingsville Cemetery.
