Floyd Sorrell Obituary

Floyd Sorrell, age 103, passed away on Friday, December 22 at Ridgeway Nursing Home. He was born on October 15, 1920 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Luther Sorrell and Bessie Nealis Sorrell. Floyd was a farmer and enjoyed being outdoors. He was a hard worker who was always willing to lend a hand. He loved to drive and was able to drive himself around until he was 98 years old. Floyd was independent for most of his life. He loved his children and his grandchildren. Family was so very special to him and he cherished every visit. Floyd witnessed many changes during his life here on earth and lost many loved ones. The family finds peace in knowing he is now at rest and with his family that has gone on before him. They will forever cherish the memories of Papaw Floyd. 

He is survived by one son, Gary Sorrell and his wife, Deb of Sharpsburg;  three stepchildren, James Reed and his wife, Marsha; Lena Fultz and her husband, Roy; Rita Cummins and her husband, Rusty; one daughter in law, Cheryl Sorrell of Owingsville; one granddaughter, Patti Sorrell; five great grandchildren, Tori Perkins, Corbin Sorrell, Gracie Sorrell, Brooklyn Reed and Jaxon Reed and one great great granddaughter, Rayanna Perkins; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his  parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Lodema Denton Sorrell; his second wife, Martha Reed Sorrell; two sons, Dwayne Thomas Sorrell and Edward "Doodle" Sorrell; two brothers, Harold and Russell Sorrell; two grandsons, Matthew and Ryan Sorrell. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Richardson Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery.
