Ewell Wells, age 81 of Owingsville, passed away on May 27 at St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 25, 1945 in Fleming County to the late James H. Wells and Alma McGlothin Wells.
Ewell was a retired industrial engineer and a tobacco farmer. He worked at Hobart, Wally, Summit and Lowes over the years. What he really enjoyed was working in tobacco. It has been said that he was pretty quick on cutting! Ewell loved Nascar racing, was an avid UK basketball fan and enjoyed traveling. He was known to be everyone’s unofficial tour guide while on vacation. He would always point out the best restaurants and neat places. Ewell loved to talk to everyone and never met a stranger. His time with family and friends was something he cherished. His kind heart and fun loving personality will be missed by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his fiance, Beverly Simpson of Mt. Sterling; one daughter, Tammy Everman (Dean Williams) of Mt. Sterling; one son, Brian (Christy) Wells of Owingsville; one granddaughter, McKenzie Wells of Mt. Sterling; two grandsons, Hunter Everman (Makayla Joseph) and Dalton (Mia) Wells, both of Owingsville; one great granddaughter, Alia Strange of Mt. Sterling; one great grandson, Waylon Everman of Owingsville; one brother, John (Joan) Wells; two sisters, Linda (JR) Bailey and Nancy (Donald) Brown; five bonus children, Jeff Jones (Stephanie), Travis Jones (Kristy), Alana Carlock, Joe Simpson; Jason Conway; seven bonus grandchildren, one special cousin, Alice Holland of Lexington; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, James Russell Everman and one great grandson, Taylor Blake Wells.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 1 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Lowell Rice and Pastor Jim Brandenburg officiating. Burial follow in Owingsville Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Hunter Everman, Dalton Wells, Michael Wells, Jason Bailey, Jeremy Bailey, Matt Brown, Kevin Brown, and Logan Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Denny Munday, Arnie Henderson, Ralph Bailey, David Henderson, Junior Bailey, Donnie Brown and Gary Faudere.
