Edward "Doodle" Sorrell, age 78, passed away January 4, 2021 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He was born in Bath County on June 22, 1942 to Floyd Sorrell and the late Lodema Denton Sorrell. Doodle loved his community and served the people for over 20 years as a truck driver for Southern States. He enjoyed socializing with everyone as he would deliver what they needed. Watching westerns in the winter and front porch sitting in the summer were some of his favorite things to do. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Doodle was outgoing and had a fun personality about him. He will be missed by his family and many friends that he leaves behind. May they each cherish the memories they have forever.
He is survived by his father, Floyd Sorrell; his loving wife of 51 years, Cheryl Stephens Sorrell; one daughter, Patti Sorrell; one granddaughter, Tori Perkins (Tyler); one brother, Gary Sorrell (Debbie); one stepbrother, James Reed; two stepsisters, Lena Fultz and Rita Cummins; two nephews, Matthew Sorrell and Ryan Sorrell; many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lodema Denton Sorrell.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Richardson Funeral Home with burial following in the Longview Cemetery in Bethel, Kentucky.
Reverend Randy Hawkins will be officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Brandon Coyle, Matthew Vice, Keith Carmichael, Dale Anderson, Joey Thomas, Rogie Coyle and Kevin Jamison.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy White, Dwayne Purvis, Gerald Dyer, J.C. Snedegar, Perry Scott Barber, Phil Sorrell and Roy Fultz.
COVID 19 regulations will be followed as ordered by the state.
