Harold Edward “Eddie” Bailey, age 68 of Owingsville, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born in Montgomery County, Ohio to Harold and Emma Lee Bailey. Eddie was a hard worker and a family man. He worked several different jobs over the years, he was a Hod Carrier for Farley Purvis, he worked at Trojans, AO Smiths, Manuel’s Pic Pac, Food Lion, Warren Lumber, Bath County Lumber, Smith & Son Hardware, he was a Bus Driver, EMT, Fire Fighter, Maintenance man at Dairy Queen, Bus Driver, and Custodian for Bath County Middle School. At each of these jobs he got to meet so many people that came to know and love him. He was a founding member of Abounding Grace Assembly of God and held membership there for 24 years. There wasn’t anything that Eddie wouldn’t do for someone, and that’s a part of what made him so special to all those that loved him. Some of his greatest joys in life were his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved whittling, fishing, bird watching and spending time in nature. He adored his dogs, cats, and most recently, his fish. He was a master storyteller and loved cutting up with people. Going to Preston Court Day and getting a bologna sandwich at Rube Blevins store and a funnel cake was always a highlight of his year. Taking trips to Indiana to visit family, playing rook, as well as trading and selling pocketknives were some of life’s simple pleasures that he delighted in.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold (2009) and Emma Lee Bailey (2010).
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Tammy Bailey. One daughter, Tamatha (Matt) Eads. One son, Wes Bailey. Four grandchildren, Tiffany Ginter, Mykayla Ginter, Aiden Bailey, and Levi Bailey. A sister, Kimolee (Wes) Crouch, one brother, Mike Bailey. A special niece, Bethany Crouch. Three nephews, Josh Bailey, Noah Bailey, and Luke Bailey. As well as several great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a very special friend, Donna Crouch Fleming.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Richardson Funeral Home with Pastor Wes Crouch officiating. Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
