Eddia Mae Stewart, age 89, of Owingsville, passed away Thursday, December 12 after an extended illness. She was born in Bath County on December 27, 1929 to the late Taulbee Shrout and Bertha Hatton Shrout. She worked many years as a nurse at Eastern KY Hospital. She also worked at Bluegrass Industry for 20 years. Many will remember Eddia Mae for her farming, her hard work ethic and her love for gardening. She loved to raise a garden and can her vegetables. Eddia Mae loved to cook for her family and others in the community. She was a homemaker and loved to raise chickens. She didn't have any biological children but helped raise her niece and nephews as if they were her own. She enjoyed helping others and family was so important to her. She had a loving heart and would do anything she could to help someone in need. Eddia Mae lived a simple life but she had a big impact on those that knew her. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
She is survived by three special nephews, Bob Butcher, Larry Butcher and Ronnie Butcher; one special niece, Judy Adkins; Two brothers, Lawrence Shrout and E.W. "Pony" Shrout; Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clemmie Stewart; Three brothers, John, James and William Shrout; Four sisters, Ida Ruth Butcher, Elizabeth Markwell, Mary Alice Stewart and Sara Penick
Visitation will be Monday December 16 from 11 a.m until 2 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Monday December 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home with burial following in the Shrout Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Josh Butcher, Dana Adkins, Anthony Miller, Bob Butcher, Larry Butcher and Ronnie Butcher.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Mitchell Miller, Larry Shrout and Johnnie Shrout.
Bishop Purdy will be officiating.
