Donna Jean Bailey, 94, of Owingsville passed away Friday May 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 17, 1930 to the late Thomas Reffitt, Sr. and Lillie Mae Spencer Reffitt. She was a licensed Beautician and Funeral Director/Embalmer working for Taul Funeral Home for a time, but enjoyed helping her husband Ray in the car business the most. She was a 70 year member of the Owingsville First Church of God, no doubt one the longest serving members. She was also active in the Bath County Homemakers, Women’s Club and served as Vice Chairman of the Board for Christian Social Services. When she wasn’t busy at work or with her charitable activities she was a devoted mother and wife and loved cooking and making desserts and having everyone together. She loved to help others and her kind, caring heart will be deeply missed by this community and her family who include:
Three sons Anthony (Teresa) Bailey, David Bailey, Walter J. (Shella) Bailey all of Owingsville; one sister Grace Richardson of Owingsville; Three grandchildren David (Shannon) Bailey. Kelly (William) Smith, and Shauna (Greg) Taulbee; several great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray F. Bailey; two brothers Thomas Reffitt, Jr. and Alvin Mason Reffitt and two sisters Emily Jenkins and Opal K. Reffitt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Owingsville First Church of God.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the Owingsville First Church of God with Reverend Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
