Claude Allen Proffitt, age 78, of Owingsville, passed away on Tuesday at his residence. He was born on March 30, 1943 in Montgomery County to the late Henderson Proffitt and Annie Mae Donathan. He was a member of the Stulltown Community Church. Claude enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and bee keeping. He was a farmer for many years before retiring. Claude was a simple man that loved his children and grandchildren. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by one son, Claude Clayton Proffitt; one daughter, Rossie Shrout; one brother, James Proffitt; one grandson, Timothy Michael Allen Shrout; one great grandson, Landon Cayne Shrout.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Hobbs Proffitt and one sister, Norma Adams.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Les Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in the White Sulfur Cemetery.
