Clarence "Pete" Stapleton, age 81 of Owingsville, passed away on July 6. He was born on March 22, 1941 in Bath County to the late Chester Stapleton and Ethel Donathan Stapleton. Pete was a member of the Sugar Grove Church and a retired farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and giving others a hard time. He loved to joke around and make others laugh. Pete loved his family and spending time with them. He had a nickname for almost everyone. Pete loved to help others and was always one that you could depend on. His good heart and stubborn personality will be missed by all he leaves behind. May they cherish the memories they have.
He is survived by two sisters, Joyce Jarrell and Arbia Wells of Owingsville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; two special friends, Jim Hunter and Danny Crawford;
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Vanlandingham and two brothers, Edward and Elbert Stapleton.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 9 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Frances Nash and Reverend Hammer McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in the Saltwell Cemetery.
