Charles Dawson Jones, age 85, passed away on July 7 at Ridgeway Nursing Home in Owingsville. He was born on June 2, 1938 in Bath County to the late Botts Jones and Virginia Webster Jones. Dawson was a member of the Owingsville Church of Christ for many years. He loved sitting on the porch while having a good conversation or just enjoying the view. Westerns and sports were his favorite things to watch. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan but enjoyed all sports. Dawson loved to go out to eat at Red Lobster. It was his favorite place. Spending time with family and friends was very special to him. He had a kind, loving heart and will be missed so much.
He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Henry; three nieces, Patsy Gudgell and her husband, Ronnie; Brenda Jones; Lana Parks and her husband, Don; one nephew, Charles Lee Jones and his wife, Carolyn; special friends and family, Timmy and Gina Triplett, Rae- Leigh Purvis, Brady Purvis, Abby Triplett, Alaina Triplett, Reagan Purvis and Justin Purvis; one sister in law, Elizabeth Jones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Ford Jones, one brother, Joe Jones and one niece, Peggy Schell.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 10 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Crouch officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Slate Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Timmy Triplett, Charles Lee Jones, Dwayne Purvis, Lori Hardin, Jensen Hardin and Gina Triplett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Gudgell and Tuffy Snedegar.
Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Charles Dawson Jones.
