Carolyn Sue Martin, age 78, passed away on June 9 at her residence. She was born in Bath County on November 8, 1943 to the late James Griffey and Mary Hart. Carolyn was a teacher and was very passionate about it. She loved every day that she taught and all of the students she had during the 22 years she taught at Rowan County Middle School. Family was so very important to her and she enjoyed every minute she got to spend with them. Going to yard sales on Saturday mornings was something she loved to do. She was a kind woman with a loving heart and was a member of the Owingsville Christian Church. Carolyn will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Thelma Terry of Wayne, West Virginia; six grandchildren, James (Jimmy) R. Manley, Nicholas A. Manley, Zachary T. Manley, Seth Terry, Alisha Terry and Allyson Terry; seven step grandchildren, Chandler Martin, Madison Martin, Kylee Martin, Bryton, Griffen, Finley and Brinley Martin; several great grandchildren; a niece, Emily Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Martin and one sister, Linda Profitt.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at the Richardson Funeral Home with burial following in the Oldfield Cemetery. Reverend Sean Bailey will be officiating.
