Carl "Hoghead" Montjoy Obituary

Carl Jay Montjoy passed away on February 5 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born to the late Johnny Montjoy and Topa Hatton Montjoy on April 3, 1952 in Olympia, Kentucky. Carl was of the Christian faith and when he was able, he loved to attend the Olympia Church of God. He was a farmer for years, tending to the cattle and raising tobacco. When he would get the chance he loved to go fishing and play golf. Some of his best times were spent fishing in Florida with his son and grandson. Carl loved to travel and always enjoyed every trip. He loved politics and was always up for a good debate. He could be stubborn  and enjoyed giving others a hard time.  Carl loved his son, grandchildren and family. He will be missed by those he leaves behind. Knowing that he is walking the streets of gold with loved ones that went on before him gives the family comfort.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Montjoy (Tonya) of Melbourne, Florida; three sisters, Ann Lykes (Danny) of Owingsville, Joretta Shirley (Don) of Hillsboro, Wilma Montjoy (Randall) of Owingsville; one grandson, Chandler Montjoy; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Montjoy; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Mae King; four brothers, Jackie Montjoy, Mike Montjoy, Walter Montjoy and Jeff Montjoy.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Richardson Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Stull Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Johnny Montjoy, Ryleigh Montjoy, Don Shirley, Danny Lykes, Kerry Pergrem and Jeff Blankenship.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Wyatt and Gary Highley.
