Bufford Jones, age 72, passed away on July 15, 2019 at his residence in Sharpsburg. He was born in Bath County on January 13, 1947 to the late William Taft Jones Sr. and Lorene Botts Jones. Bufford was a member of the Greater First Baptist Church and was a hard worker for the Lord. Anything he could do to help out at the church or friends and family, he was always willing. He can be described as a stern man, who meant what he said. He was much beloved and a kind hearted person. He was a carpenter and electrician. He could build about anything and loved to make things out of recycled materials. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by five brothers, Edgar Jones (Verdell) , William Jerry Jones, Timothy Jones, Frank Jones, and Ralph Jones; six sisters, Barbara (Raymond) Jones, Fannie (Ronald) Mynhier, Susan Jones, Joetta Botts, Thelma Jones, Carolyn Jones and Willie Mae Jones; one aunt, Meacy Simpson of Lexington; one uncle, Joe Louis Jones of Richmond; Several nieces and nephews; a host of friends from the senior citizen apartments and beyond.
Visitation will be held on Sunday July 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Greater First Baptist Church in Sharpsburg.
Funeral Services will be Monday July 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Greater First Baptist Church with burial following in the Longview Cemetery.
Reverend Gary Boyd will be officiating.
