On September 6th, 2021 the Lord called Betty “Elley” Wilson home to take her rest. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Elley had touched in some small way throughout her memorable life.
Elley was a member of Greater First Baptist Church and enjoyed being a member of the Mighty Voices. She was a graduate of Morehead State University where she received her Associates degree in Information Technology. Elley loved to spend time in the kitchen creating some of her great meals and delicious pies, that would have everyone coming over for a visit.
Having a brown belt in karate, it’s not surprising why Elley was such an outspoken and no-nonsense type of person. Some of her favorite pastime activities was eating ice cream and watching any and every action movie possible.
She is survived in death by her mother Pauline Boyd of (Sharpsburg), her two daughters Joy Wilson of (Lexington), Charity Mynhier-Ragan (Tyrone) of (Louisville). Two granddaughters Aziah Campbell and Niasia Hall. Six Brothers; Jeff Wilson (Germaine) of Louisville, Bruce Jones (Brandy) of Owingsville, Steve Wilson (Mary) of Lexington, Duane Wilson of California, Craig Garrett of Atlanta, and Mark Wilson of Lexington. Four Aunts; Charlene Clemons (Robert), Betty Ann Boyd, Kathleen Wilson and Virgina Boyd. Several nieces , nephews, and cousins; a host of extended grandchildren and family.
She was preceded in death by her father Marcus Wilson III, Twin daughters Shauna and Shannon Boyd, and brother, Victor Wilson. Even though a failing heart took her away, Elley’s loving heart left a beacon of light for all. Elley was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 11 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Greater First Baptist Church in Sharpsburg. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Gary Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Longview Cemetery in Bethel.
Richardson Funeral Home is caring for all arrangements.
