Betty Ruth Rawlings

Betty Ruth Rawlings, age 91 of Owingsville, passed away on November 15. She was born on May 181931 in Bath County, Kentucky to the late John Adair Richards and Madge Atchison Richards. She was a high school cheerleader, and at Centre College she continued to cheerlead and played basketball. Betty Ruth loved to dance and was a good singer. She loved nature and being outdoors. She was very patriotic and loved to travel. Betty Ruth loved antiques and at one time she owned an antique store. She was a member of the Homemaker’s club and the Bath County Woman’s Club. She was a faithful member of the Owingsville United Methodist Church her entire life. She was married to her loving husband Delphas for 34 years. She was a very loving, loyal, and faithful person that will be missed deeply by those she leaves behind. Betty Ruth was a retired postmaster at the Olympia Post Office and former Selective Service Clerk.

She is survived by two daughters; Felicia Rawlings Mundy and Lila Rawlings Reynolds; two brothers, Morgan Richards and Lawrence Richards; one sister, Susan (Cookie) Richards Hicks; three grandchildren; Delphia Kelleigh Colliver, Emily Rawlings Reynolds and Deegan Adair Mundy; three great grandchildren; Mathew Holt, Lilyana Holt and James Delphas Holt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delphas Dellmas Rawlings; two brothers, John and Jeff Richards.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Owingsville United Methodist Church.

Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Mike Ray and Pastor Matt Cason officiating. A burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery, Bethel, Kentucky.
