Betty J. Barber

Betty J. Barber, age 89 of Owingsville, passed away on July 12 at Ridgeway Nursing Home. Betty was born on May 1, 1935 in Bath County to the late Claude Lyons and Dorothy Coyle Lyons. She retired after working many years at Seal Master in Morehead. Betty enjoyed being outdoors. She loved to work in her flowers and watch the birds. Betty was a friendly person that never met a stranger. She enjoyed having company and spending time with her family. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all. 

She is survived by one son, Richard Barber and his wife Donna of Hillsboro; one daughter, Sharon Hawkins of Owingsville; two sisters in law, Lana Lyons and Becky Lyons; eight grandchildren, Richard Barber II, Leah Cooley (Nathan), Brooke Barber, Jessica Sorrell, Christopher Snedegar (Jamie), Tara Henderson (Jon), Erica Gorrell (Brandon), Paige Story (Nathan); several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Barber; one son, Daniel Barber; one daughter, Brenda Snedegar; two brothers, John Lyons and CW Lyons; one grandson, John "Lil Tuffy" Snedegar. 

Visitation will be Sunday, July 14 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 15 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Richardson Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Crouch officiating. Burial will follow in Slate Valley Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers will be Brandon Gorrell, Jon Henderson, Jonathan Henderson, Mathew Henderson, Blake Sorrell, Jimmy Hawkins, Richard Barber II, and Christopher Snedegar.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dominic Goldy, Mitchell Barber and Ryan Gorrell.
