Albert Lee Akers, age 83 of Owingsville, passed away on November 17, 2022. Albert was born in Van Lear, Johnson County, Kentucky, to his late parents, Marvin and Evalena Akers.
In his youth, Albert achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed the outdoors his whole life, from fishing and camping to farming. He was a cattleman and horse enthusiast. He lived life to its fullest and on his own terms.
Prior to college, Albert worked in the coal mines of Eastern Kentucky where he developed a patent that affected the cutting of coal. Albert achieved an Engineering Degree from Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne, Indiana which he applied at IBM in Lexington, Kentucky for many years; retiring from LockMasters in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Albert was a holder of multiple US Patents during his long and successful Engineering career.
Albert was predeceased by his wife, Carol Akers, two brothers, Gaylord Akers and Alvin Akers and sister in law, Jean Akers.
He was survived by two daughters from a previous marriage to Sharon Akers: Heather Akers and her husband, Seamus Nolan & Melissa Wagner and her husband, Chip. Also survived by nephew Mike Akers and his wife Mary and his niece Janice Searing. He will also be missed by many great nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Monday, November 28 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home, Owingsville KY.
Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Richardson Funeral Home with burial following in the Flemingsburg County Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Chip Wagner, Carl Otten, Paul Williams, Pastor Eric Espada, Robert Searing and Mike Akers.
