Ira Leon (Pete) Rice, 83, went home to be with our Lord suddenly on Saturday December 15th at St. Claire in Morehead KY, he had been a resident at Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg. He was born July 28, 1935 in Louisa to the late John and Josephine Rice. Pete was a retired State Foreman for the Highway Department in Louisa, a member of the Cando Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed fox hunting. Pete served as a Private in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. He was a hard worker that took pride in his family and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by one daughter Barbara (Gary) Ballard of Owingsville one son John Lee of Louisa; one granddaughter Keri (John) Vice of Owingsville; two grandsons Casey Damron of Owingsville and John Ryan Rice of Prestonsburg; three great grandchildren Jaxon Vice, Karson and Eli Damron; a special niece Angie Rice of Webbville; he also leaves behind many special friends that included his past co-workers, hunting buddies and caretakers and friends at Edgewood Estates that came to know him by Pap.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Rice; one brother John Alfred Rice; one sister Virginia “Jenny” Queen.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Cando Freewill Baptist Church in Louisa, KY. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Burial will follow in the Old Virginia Cemetery in Bath County.
