Ernest "Sonny" Barber, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday evening. He was born on January 6, 1935 to the late George Earl and Iola Barber and through his lifetime he had many adventures which took him to places like the desserts of Arizona and the Big Sky lands and mountains of Montana. He and his wife, Bonnie Lou Barber, retired to Owingsville and were proud to own a quiet little cattle farm here in their home town that they operated until Bonnie's passing in 2016. He adored Bonnie and he truly never recovered from her passing.
He is survived by two daughters Pam (Jake) Graves of Lexington and Debbie (John) Jennings of Louisville; four grandchildren Stephanie Mehr, Kevin Mehr (Aubrey Cousens), Katie (Justin) Ernst, and Joshua (Felicia) Jennings.
Friends may visit from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday. Funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday with burial in the Owingsville Cemetery.
