Brooks Monroe Becraft

Brooks Monroe Becraft, Jr., 86, of Florence, Ky passed away Wednesday November 23, 2016. He was a native of Bath County, Kentucky; the son of the late Brooks Becraft Sr. and Ruby Swartz Becraft, the beloved husband of Violet (Stacy) Becraft and adored father of five children. He was a Civil Engineer and spent his career managing large concrete projects that built interstates from Texas to Maryland and improved infrastructure for many large airports.  During his career his projects included the largest military runway in the world in the Indian Ocean as well as the runways for an airbase in the Sinai Peninsula that was a result of the Egypt Israel Treaty between Carter, Sadat and Begin.  His projects even included palaces for royalty in Saudi Arabia.  He is described by his family as a lifelong horseman and a real family man. He enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife, Violet and the family.  In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons Brooks “Butch” Becraft, III of Dry Ridge and Greg (Marla) Becraft of Warsaw; three daughters Connie Becraft of Florence, Cindy (Audie) McWilliams of Walton, Ky, and Angie Becraft of Florence, Ky; three grandchildren Stacey Brooke Igo, Alexa McWilliams, and Channing McWilliams; two great grandchildren Corey Brooks Becraft and Brooklynn Hartke; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents Brooks Becraft, Sr. and Ruby Swartz Becraft and one brother Cardwell Becraft. Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. Friday at the Mudlick Church of God. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday with the Reverend Chris Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at the Stull Cemetery.
